Any dentist may legally offer aligners. Board certification in orthodontics requires a full residency in tooth movement and bite correction, then examination. Dr. Brianna Davydov holds it, and earned the Herzberg award for clinical excellence during her orthodontic training.

How treatment is planned
Tooth movement is planned from imaging and a digital scan of your own bite, reviewed in person at every stage.
The movement is mapped and reviewed with you, so the projected finish is agreed before the first appliance goes on.
Roots, bone and existing restorations are checked first. Moving teeth through unhealthy bone causes problems that show up years later.

Our office is at 155 East 55th Street between Lexington and Third, in Midtown East, Manhattan, one block from the 51st Street and Lexington Avenue trains. We see orthodontic patients from across Midtown, Turtle Bay, Sutton Place, Murray Hill and the Upper East Side.
The process
A full assessment of the teeth, gums, bite and jaw relationship by the orthodontist. Imaging and a digital scan as the case requires.
What is actually causing the crowding, spacing or bite problem, and which of the three appliances suits it. You are told the trade off on each, in plain terms.
Appliance, projected duration, number of visits, and total cost with your orthodontic insurance benefit estimated against it.
Adjustments and reviews in person with the orthodontist, then retainers. Teeth drift back without retention, so it is planned in from the start, never sold to you at the end.
Insurance and payment
The practice files and tracks claims for you and works to maximise your yearly benefit. Where treatment runs beyond what insurance covers, Sunbit and Cherry financing are available.

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, with residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He teaches at Weill Cornell Medical Center and handles the surgical phase of implant, full arch and reconstruction cases.

An orthodontist has completed additional residency training devoted entirely to tooth movement, bite correction and jaw relationships, and a board certified orthodontist has then passed examination in that field. Any general dentist may legally offer clear aligners after a short course. For straightforward cases that is often fine. For crowded, rotated or bite related cases, the difference in training shows.
It means the orthodontist voluntarily submitted their clinical work and knowledge for examination by the specialty board, over and above the residency itself. No. You can book an orthodontic consultation directly with us. If you already have a general dentist you are happy with, you are welcome to keep seeing them for cleanings and general care while we handle the alignment, and we will keep them informed.
It depends on the appliance and how far the teeth need to move. Ceramic braces, ClearCorrect and Invisalign sit at different price points, and simple cases cost considerably less than complex ones. You get a written figure at the consultation, with any orthodontic insurance benefit estimated against it, and Sunbit and Cherry financing are available.
Whichever suits your bite, which is the point of seeing someone who offers all three. Aligners handle a great deal but not everything, and they depend on you wearing them. Fixed ceramic braces apply more control and remove the wear time question. You will be told which and why, with the reasoning shown on your own scan.
Fixed appliances usually need adjusting every four to eight weeks. Aligner cases are reviewed at intervals rather than at every tray change. Either way the appointments are with the orthodontist treating you, because progress needs assessing by someone looking in your mouth rather than at a photograph.
